A Ladder alternative that bends to your week
Ladder's coach writes one program for the whole team, so it's your week that has to bend. PULS3 builds the program around you: it eases before the hard session, brings you back lighter after a break, and fits around your sleep and stress.
PULS3 is an iPhone app with a head coach and nine specialists, for sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress, mood, lab results, women's health, menopause and men's health, who work to one plan.

Why people look for a Ladder alternative
Ladder's reviews are mostly warm: of the 100 App Store reviews we read (50 US, August 2026; 50 Australian, April to September 2025), only 2 gave one or three stars. So the reasons below come mostly from how Ladder's own materials say the program works.
One program for the whole team
Ladder's website says a human coach designs the week's plan for a whole team, and every member follows it. Seasons run five to six weeks and get harder, then ease off (Garage Gym Reviews, 2026). Ladder's own materials do not describe changes for one member. PULS3 builds your plan each morning from last night's sleep and your recent training, and eases the days before a hard session when your load climbs too fast.
Coming back after a break
A team plan is set at the season and week level, not rebuilt from your own night. PULS3 starts lighter on purpose after a gap, then builds, and tells you there's nothing to catch up.
The price, in US dollars
Ladder costs US$29.99 a month or US$179.99 a year after a 7-day trial, and its pricing page lists US dollars only. One Australian one-star review (June 2025) calls it expensive, with nothing free. PULS3 is free until 31 October 2026, then A$9.99 a month, and nothing renews unless you choose to subscribe.
What you get with PULS3
A week that eases when load climbs
PULS3 tracks load across lifting, running, riding and swimming. When a week climbs too fast, it eases the days before the hard session, so the work you did lands.
A lighter comeback
Two weeks off, or two months. PULS3 starts where you are, keeps the first weeks lighter on purpose, then climbs with you. There's nothing to catch up, and it says so on the plan.
Last time's sets, and a next load offered
In the gym, the set grid shows what you lifted last time and offers a next load. Take it or ignore it. Every plan change is offered, never applied without your yes.
Sleep, food and stress on the same plan
Specialists for sleep, nutrition, stress, mood, lab results, women's health, menopause and men's health work behind one coach. A rough night reshapes the session, and a big training block changes dinner.

Using PULS3 with Ladder
- Install PULS3 and say what you're training for, in your own words. “Get strong again without wrecking my week” is a fine answer.
- Connect Apple Health, or skip it. Workouts your Apple Watch records count toward your load. PULS3 has no direct connection to Ladder, so keep its coached workouts if you like them and let PULS3 plan the rest of the week around what Apple Health shows.
- Get your first plan. Today's session, meals and recovery, with the reason for each. Miss a stretch, and the next sessions come back eased and marked as adjusted for you.
Questions
How much does PULS3 cost?
Free until 31 October 2026. After that, A$9.99 a month or A$89.99 a year for one person, or A$19.99 a month for a family (the same figures in US$ in the US). The App Store shows the price before you pay, and nothing renews unless you choose to subscribe.
Can I use Ladder and PULS3 together?
Yes. Keep Ladder for coached workouts and use PULS3 for sleep, food and stress. PULS3 has no direct connection to Ladder; it reads Apple Health.
Does Ladder change the plan for me?
Ladder's website says a human coach designs the week's plan for a whole team, and members follow it. You can switch teams twice a month on the monthly plan, or as often as you like on the annual plan.
Does PULS3 have human coaches?
No. PULS3's coach is AI, with nine specialists behind one chat voice. Its safety framework was co-designed with Dr Jason Paruthi, MD, and it tells you clearly when to see a doctor.
